The Town of
Manzanillo

Manzanillo is the site of two bays, Bahía de Manzanillo and Bahía de Santiago. Its geographical location allows it to offer magnificent landscapes, unrepeatable sunsets, beautiful beaches matched with golden sands and a spectacular view of the twin bays. The friendly atmosphere and local heritage makes this the perfect home for a luxury retreat as El Corazon.

About Manzanillo

Manzanillo is located in the Mexican state of Colima. The city is perched on the Pacific Ocean and contains Mexico’s busiest port on Manzanillo bay. It is the largest producing municipality for tourism and business in the state of Colima.

The city is known as the “sailfish capital of the world”. Since 1957, it has hosted national and international fishing competitions, such as the Dorsey Tournament, making it a very attractive fishing destination. Manzanillo has become one of the country’s most important tourist resorts, and its exclusive hotels and restaurants continue to meet the demands of both national and international visitors.

Shopping

In the downtown area, the main square, and all along Mexico Avenue you’ll find a variety of clothing, accessory, and souvenir shops. On the beaches you’ll also find businesses specializing in the sale of sports equipment, like surfboards, snorkeling, and scuba diving equipment. There are also tourist markets on the beaches at Salagua, Santiago, and Miramar, as well as authentic craft markets, and antique shops selling jewelry and handmade clothing.

In particular, the Miramar Beach Tianguis is an open-air market packed with stalls selling traditional crafts from the state of Colima.

Fishing

Fishing is by far the most popular activity in Manzanillo. The waters around the area are teaming with marine life and there is plentiful sailfish for ambitious fishermen from around the world. Every year in November, the International Sailfish Tournament takes place in Manzanillo Mexico, and it is extremely popular. Even a 25-meter turquoise sailfish statue was erected in front of the town’s main plaza.
